"From all the scary ladies?" Mathias asks, one arm sliding around Veronica's waist under the water. He feels good; light and happy and, maybe most importantly, like nothing has ever been wrong on this island. It isn't fair to use Veronica as an escape, but being able to forget everything around him is certainly an added bonus.
