"It seems to be that case with many people here," Mathias says thoughtfully, looking down at his sandwich almost without even realize that it's there. "The scientists, the law enforcement, they're all the sort of people who seem to have excelled in their fields back home."

It's lucky, in a way. They have access to some of the most amazing minds he's ever encountered. They can be taught by them and it doesn't cost them a cent.
