"So I can see why you would want to spend time with them," he says, although that isn't entirely true. As he looks up the boardwalk toward the Compound, Mathias thinks about all the things that could go wrong with that situation, the dangers inherent in being around a vampire.

Though he really has limited knowledge as to what that might mean. What he knows of vampires comes from TV shows and movies. The ones that are real, the ones that Sookie's known, they may well be incredibly different from what he's been shown in the media.

"So long as they aren't trying to kill you," he adds cautiously, considering that. "I mean, I don't know very much about them, having never met one." He pauses, thinking about that, then adds, "As far as I know, anyway."
