That gets a sharp, interested glance from Mathias, his eyebrows pulling together as he studies Sookie curiously. There's so much in this world -- or other worlds, he has to acknowledge they may be from very different places -- that he's never encountered before, but given the things he's seen, he knows better than to doubt them blindly. If he believes that she was able to read minds, then he has no reason not to believe the other things she tells him.

"Vampires," he repeats, one corner of his mouth hitching up slightly, a curious, interested expression on his face. "There were... vampires and they prevent you from hearing thoughts? Or is it just that you can't hear their thoughts?" Either way, it's interesting and he wonders why that's the case.
