"There are, yes," Mathias admits, because it would be silly to deny that there are dangers to diving. As far as he knows, though, there hasn't been a single shark attack here and he's never seen any great whites himself. That doesn't make it impossible, though, especially when it comes to just seeing one. "I have never run into one, though, and I don't know anyone else who has either, but it's something to be aware of. There are other dangerous creatures, too. Jellyfish, mostly, but there are some reef sharks that are usually fairly timid."

Usually isn't always, though, and he knows what to look for. "It's part of why you don't go alone until you're more experienced," he explains. "I know what sort of sealife to look out for, things we shouldn't get close to. You'll learn them, too." But until then, he'll dive with her. The last thing Mathias wants to do is put anyone he cares about in danger.
