radicalize: (She's not a girl who misses much.)

Hurrying towards the top of the hill, Lucy can't spare a moment to let herself be afraid, in large part because she's barely even gotten to let this register yet. It's all so obviously real, but at the same time, it doesn't feel like it could be, or at least like anything could come of it. They'll get away from this, they'll make it somewhere safe, hide out from all the shit that's got to be going on, and then it will all be alright. She doesn't even bother trying to take in everything that's up here, because it doesn't matter. What happened before isn't going to happen again.

Except the bottom of the hill comes into sight and she stops short, feet skidding against the ground, her mouth falling open. Helpless, she looks at Mathias, wanting to ask what the actual way down he had in mind is, but she knows better. It was this. Somehow, they got there first, or they were there already, waiting. Either way, she knows with a sickening sort of certainty, they're pretty well fucked.

"Mathias," she says slowly, trying not to convey any panic. Nothing good's going to come from freaking out about this. There has to, there has to, be some logical way of handling it, even as a part of her wishes she were armed, that they at least had a way of fighting back. "What do we do now?"
