"Yeah," Lucy says on a heavy exhale, both an agreement and an answer to his question. What that means, she doesn't really want to think about yet. They don't have time for that, or to test just how real all of it is. Instead, they have to get away, and fast. How all of this — the people, the hill, all of it — got here, she doesn't know, but regardless, they're the ones who've been here for years. The advantage is clearly theirs.

She nearly protests as Mathias starts leading them in the direction of the hill, but she doesn't say anything. He's the one who's dealt with this before; he'll know how best to handle it.
